Victorian Dairy Industry Authority ( VDIA ) - Now DFSV

The Victorian Dairy Industry Authority (VDIA) and the Victorian Meat Authority (VMA) contacted GUI, when they decided to rebuild their legacy business systems. GUI not only helped redesign their systems and architect the new software from the system level up, we also lead the development effort, supplied additional programming resources, and helped restructure their network environment to support the new development.

An important part of the job was to work extensively with the VDIA development staff to train them in the use of the latest RAD development tools and GUI's proven development techniques. We also provided programming standards and assisted with Quality Assurance of developed code and components. This not only accelerated the development process but also helped them become accomplished RAD developers in their own right.

The EQIL Licensing, Inspections and Quality Assurance application not only existed as an N-Tier Desktop application running on the VDIA/DFSV's local network, but also exposed significant parts of its functionality via web sites available as an extranet to users across the state. This site used the same middleware technology as Desktop EQIL and leveraged significant code-reuse from the overall development of the system architecture. A web-based interface was also implemented to allow Dairy Technical Services (DTS) and other sample testing organizations to be able to transmit test result data into the system and make it available for analysis and reporting as part of the core application.
