GUI Computing began their relationship with Melbourne Water in 1997 by developing and managing their Intranet infrastructure. In August 1999, Melbourne Water Corporation appointed GUI Computing to develop, implement and maintain an Internet strategy that would support and enhance the organisation's position in the wider Melbourne community as well as providing a framework for future eCommerce opportunities.
Since that time GUI Computing has continued to maintain both the internal and external browser based solutions required by Melbourne Water and look to continue this relationship into the future.
We have provided DHS with a number development solutions that include consultancy, windows based and web based solutions showing our ability to deal not only with smaller organisations, but also with larger government departments.
Some of the latest systems we have developed for the DHS include the Victorian Food information Network (VFIN) extranet web site for Food Safety Victoria, the Performance Information Management System (PIMS) Intranet / Desktop system for the Business Development Branch, and the Immunisation Management Providers System (IMPS) for local government authorities.
VicFIN Provides Food Safety Victoria, Local Government Authorities, Testing Laboratories and internal and external users with a system that is able to store, manage and report on information related to food testing and safety.
PIMS is used to collect and support informaton relating to Executive level reporting processes that take place on a monthly and quarterly basis within DHS. This web based application with a desktop administration interface provides an easy to use interface allowing the centralisation of data collection for reporting purposes.
IMPS is used by LGAs to record and manage immunisations in the field using laptops which are then synchronised to a central LGA database at a convenient time, as well as providing Commonwealth authorities with an electronic feed of relevant data.
In 1997/98 the Victorian Dairy Industry Authority (VDIA - Now DFSV) and the Victorian Meat Authority (VMA) contacted GUI, to rebuild their legacy business systems. GUI not only helped redesign their systems and architect the new software from the system level up, we also lead the development effort, supplied additional programming and training resources, and helped restructure their network environment to support these new systems.
The Major system developed at this time was the EQIL system (Entity Quality Inspections and Licencing). This application not only exists on the VDIA/DFSV local network, but also exposes significant parts of its functionality via web sites available as an extranet to users across the state.
During this time GUI also developed the award winning "PC Farm" software which is still in use by Dairy farmers across Australia.
Water Smart is a web site designed and implemented by GUI Computing based on an initiative of the Victorian Government that looks at broadening the communities input into the way we implement the sustainable management of water resources over the next 50 years.
Apart from being a site where information relating to these strategies can be sourced, this site allows responses and suggestions from the community and stakeholders, together with the findings of additional studies relating to important aspects of water resource management to be submitted and published on line.
In 1999 GUI Computing was contracted to develop a three web sites for the RAAF. All sites were based on pre-existing design templates, thereby maintaining the RAAF's uniform look and feel, and were required to incorporate a technologically sharp and visually clean look to appeal to net visitors. Other requirements also included the untilisation of a simple navigation structure and having the ability to allow for updates by RAAF staff.
The three sites implemented were the Roulettes Aerobatics sub-site to the Central Flying school, the RAAF Band site, and the Officers' Training School site. GUI Computing liased constantly with RAAF staff during this project to ensure that each site had the appropriate look and feel required.
GUI Computing developed the Tax Base system for the State Revenue Office. This desktop application is a directory of Tax Based information that allows their staff to quickly and easily locate Tax information and the officer or area responsible. The administation of this data is made up of an easy to use secure interface that allows the entry of tax documents and the relation of these documents to topics, officers and other SRO staff locations. A record of all enquiries is maintained and basic reporting functionality is also availabe via the system.
